A young woman in a coma-state is being treated by Dr. Cross, a psychiatrist. The young woman, Janet Stewart, heard loud arguing one evening, she walked to her window to see where it was coming from and then witnessed a man murder his wife by striking her with a candlestick. As she comes out of her shock she recognizes Dr Cross as the murderer. He then takes her to his sanitarium where his nurse / lover urges him to give inject her with an overdose of insulin. Cross suddenly changes his mind and realizes he cannot kill her in cold blood, and asks Elaine (his lover) to fetch medicine to save her. When she refuses the two end up fighting and he strangles her, but what happens to Janet?
